Lately

This month has been nonstop. Between my work schedule, apartment hunting and social engagements, I haven’t had much time to post. Regardless, it’s great to be back on the world wide web. I’m sure the internet was weeping at the thought of another lost blogger. Now dry those eyes.

Mast Brothers sea salt chocolate

Every time Jordan and I are in Williamsburg we purposely walk by Mast Brothers on North 3rd Street. The sweet smell of chocolate permeates the air, challenging you not to go inside. Since our first trip several years ago, we’ve accrued a rather large selection of their chocolate bars. Each variety has a carefully appointed, stylish, wallpaper-quality wrapper that is almost as good as the product itself. Currently I’m working on their Sea Salt bar and cannot enter the kitchen without stealing a square.

The Met rooftop for drinks

Visiting the Met Museum can be overwhelming for New Yorkers and tourists alike. There is just an incredible amount of ground to cover and one trip never really leaves you feeling satisfied. For this reason, I usually set conquerable goals before visiting. For example, this time I will focus on Egyptian Art and next month I will walk around The American Wing (JK regarding the Egyptian Art section – it’s a gold-dipped snooze fest). However, if you ever want to feel no museum pressure but still enjoy the building, I highly recommend grabbing a drink on the rooftop. Nothing is more beautiful than experiencing a sunset over Central Park with a $14 cocktail in both hands. Double fisting for the arts.

Woody Allen at The Carlyle

J has been a huge Woody Allen fan ever since his father showed him Annie Hall in the early 90s. We have been very aware that Woody plays in a jazz band on Mondays at The Carlyle but have been too slow and frugal to move on tickets for years. This spring, through one of Jordan’s friends, we were able to secure two tickets to one of the shows. The experience was fairly intimate and lived up to the hype. The shrimp cocktail wasn’t bad either.
